The Blockchain Technology and 2018
The blockchain technology has witnessed more attention in 2018 than ever. This is quite good- for many new projects has brought the attention to the world through the Initial Coin Offering (ICO). This year alone through multiple (1197) ICOs $7,381,445,669 have been raised (ICOdata). But that is not the whole news- 2018 also marked a year in which scams heightened as the money stolen through scam ICOs reached $700million (with just ten scam icos) – an all-time high. According to an article written by me a week ago, I highlighted some few points to take note to identify scam ICOs, some of which are:
- No public appearance by the project team to actually confirm their identity
- No products, just tokens listed on exchanges (if investors are lucky)
- They are always startup, new projects….
What could be the solution?
The solutions to these challenges are no far-fetched as they are the opposite of the above-listed points. The blockchain technology needs more attention has its application is still in its infancy (so also its market). Projects which will gain the positive trust from investors should be one with an actual product, which has been around for long and which the project team member’s identity can be easily confirmed.
